Saudi Arabia has partnered with BYD Energy Storage to develop the world's largest grid-scale battery energy storage system (BESS), signing contracts totaling 12.5 GWh, which, combined with a previous 2.6 GWh project, brings their collaboration to 15.1 GWh. This initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goal to generate 50% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030. The BESS will be installed at five sites across the country, utilizing BYD's advanced MC Cube-T energy storage system with Cell-to-System (CTS) technology. These installations aim to stabilize the power grid, manage peak energy demands, and support the integration of renewable energy into the national power transmission network.

Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) encompasses natural and technological methods to extract CO₂ from the atmosphere, with credits allowing entities to offset emissions by funding these initiatives. Challenges include high costs, scalability, and ensuring genuine impact, but advancements and policy support are driving progress toward net-zero goals.
