Canada and the U.S. share the longest undefended border in world. The two countries have a long history of being significant trade and military allies.

In 2024, after Donald Trump was re-elected as U.S. President, he began talking about changing the country's relationship with Canada, repeatedly threatening to impose crippling tariffs on Canadian imports, and use 'economic force' to annex its northern neighbour as the 51st state.
